The Carriers Inn, Hatchmere.
Saturday 9th July 2011: Last Saturday I visited the Carriers Inn next to Hatchmere Lake with my friend and her child who is 9 months old. We had not booked ahead but were warmly welcomed by polite staff and offered a thoughtful table & high chair with plenty of room. They immediately offered & brought a piece of bread and butter for the young one. I cannot resist Lamb Shank when it looks promising and I was not disappointed… it came on a bed of sage and something mashed potatoes with the most beautiful seasonal vegetables cooked perfectly. My friend had steak sandwich with giant chips and gravy. For dessert I had three large and lovely fresh profiteroles with a jug of hot chocolate sauce… and my friend had a banana split… We enjoyed our food immensely & enjoyed a great bottle of wine and although it is a little more expensive than the usual pub fayre it is exceptionally good food and service and great value for money. The beautiful lake and surrounding woods make this a special destination foodie pub-restaurant. I am already planning a return visit.
