28th August 2010 Bunbury Water Mill is closed due to lack of funding. Bunbury Mill is a nineteenth century watermill and stands on the foundations of a previous mill, which had burned down in 1844. The villagers would love to save the mill from permanent closure but something has to be done very quickly before it falls into disrepair. 17th February 2011 Forest Sale Axed: Government apology Click
4th February 2011 Tonight a meeting was held in Delamere Community Centre about the government plans to sell off our forests. MP for Eddisbury, Stephen O'Brien, came to speak regarding the changes. Mr. O'Brien spoke about a review of how the forests could be better managed and how they might be 'enhanced' for the benefit of the public by becoming a heritage centre, for example. Many people took the microphone in turn and voiced their questions, concerns and worries about the future of the obviously much loved and widely used Delamere Forest. There was clearly no support (voiced) for any sale of any part of Delamere Forest or transfer of ownership of any kind. There appeared to be total consensus that the forests are working fine as they are under the Forestry Commission so why mess about with them now? Mr. O'Brien included in his response that it was, "clear that there is an obligation on the government to explain better where the motivation for this (consultation) is coming from", though offered no answers himself. He promised that he would report back the people's points of view.

25th November 2010 Thieves broke into a car belonging to a mother of three in the Central car park in Delamere Forest on Sunday. Anybody who witnessed any suspicious behaviour on Sunday afternoon at Delamere Forest's central car park or anyone with any information about the incident can contact Cheshire Police on 0845 458 0000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 111 555.
22nd November 2010 Local brothers, Lee & Ryan Cartwright had a great idea with vision, "We were approached earlier this year by the Forestry Commission regarding their Christmas tree sales area. They wanted to try something really different regarding their food outlets and bring some good quality, but more importantly, locally produced food to the event. We were born & raised less than half a mile from the site so we know the area well. As a result we have sourced all our suppliers from within a 6 mile radius, the furthest being Cheshire Farm Chips based in Helsby.
We wanted to give visitors to the area a real taste of Cheshire, not just through our food, but visually aswell. This is when we hit upon the idea of building a traditional Chester street! Chester is a beautiful city that attracts thousands of tourists annually to wander it's pretty streets and admire it's wonderful Tudor architecture. So we thought why not bring a little bit of Chester to Vale Royal, the heart of Cheshire!
We wanted to create a really friendly Christmas atmosphere so, along with the local food, we will also be serving mulled wine & Frodsham Brewery Christmas ales which can be enjoyed while listening to a local male voice choir. To enhance the atmosphere further we've installed snow machines so can guarantee a White Christmas EVERY day!
Coupled with The Forestry Commission’s Christmas Grotto we hope the experience will be fun for both young and old." Click here for details.
8th November 2010 10.30pm Residents in the Delamere area recieved a letter today from the manager of Delamere Forest, Vernon Stockton, apologising for the problems caused by the Hellraiser event which have been raised with the organiser. The letter also says, “This event was not a Forestry Commission event, and was organised entirely by Hellrunner, who were made aware of our limitations here at Delamere. Unfortunately we had far more participants and spectators than was originally advised, and parking provision and facilities arranged, proved to be totally inadequate for the volume of traffic received.
Until proper provision can be made, future events for the foreseeable future, regardless of the organiser, will be restricted to 500-600 participants, and parking restricted only to the Whitefield Car Park. The only exception being the annual Christmas and concert events, which are arranged by the Forestry Commission.
Once again, many apologies for the inconvenience caused.”
7th November 2010 12.30pm Bedlam on the B5152. There are traffic jams and delays along the B5152 in Delamere Forest today due mainly to the Hellraiser running event and as it is such a beautiful day there are a number of visitors coming to the forest too. Visitors/spectators/runners are parking anywhere they can find space which is unfortunately making it much more difficult for other vehicles to progress along the road through Delamere. Residents are understandably losing patience as people are blocking exits and obstructing the roads and pathways. As this road is also a main route for commercial vehicles the problem is compounded.
6th November 2010 5.30pm The Husky Race is about to start at Delamere Forest and tomorrow is the gruelling Puma Hellrunner race in Delamere Forest and heavy traffic congestion is expected both before and after the event. There are two races starting at 9am and 1pm. The 11-mile multi-terrain course, which attracts about 2,000 entrants, requires competitors to negotiate water, inclines and bogland during the run. The Bonfire Night at the Crocky trail was postponed due to rain on Friday but is expected to happen tomorrow instead.
Tonight is the bonfire party at the Tigers Head in Norley.
